Ever since Bridgerton made its debut on Netflix last year, it’s made a huge impact on wedding design. In fact, Bridgerton is one of the key trends for 2022 weddings! Adapted from the bestselling novels by Julia Quinn and produced by Shona Rhimes, the series is known for its stunning sets, delicious drama – and, of course, for its style. Whether or not you’ll be going full-Bridgerton, with a Georgian wedding venue and hanging wisteria galore, there’s plenty of inspiration that can be drawn from the show for your bridal style, from hair and makeup to accessories. As we look towards Season 2, here are some of the best ways to add a touch of Bridgerton to your wedding day look.
Regency-style wedding dress. There’s a definite Regency flavour to the 2022 wedding dress trends. Empire waists, puff sleeves, embroidered details and corsetry are all the rage, albeit in a more modern form than pure period fashion. On Bridgerton, Daphne’s wedding gown was a white empire waist with a square neck, puff sleeves, and Swiss dot lace, as well as elaborate embroidery.
Luxurious hair accessories. You can’t talk Bridgerton-inspired bridal looks without talking tiaras. They were visible left and right in Season 1, from classic sparklers to extravagant statement headpieces. Headbands and hairclips with diamonds, crystals and pearls, as well as flower and scroll motifs were also popular choices. This is an easy way to bring a touch of Bridgerton glamour to your look, even if you don’t take it any further.
Intricate updo. The hairstyles in Bridgerton were a thing of beauty, from demure ringlets to extravagant wigs. For parties, Daphne mostly rocked updos with plenty of height and drama. Some had cascades of curls, others had braids and other elements woven in, alongside sparkling accessories. The perfect inspiration for a bridal updo.
Dewy makeup. When it came to beauty, the look for Daphne was natural, fresh-faced and elegant. According to the Bridgerton hair and makeup artists, it was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and was all about luminous skin and no-makeup makeup. Creating the look starts with prepping your skin, and having a solid skincare routine leading up to the big day. A beautiful, glowy foundation is next, with some carefully-placed highlighter. A soft pink on the cheeks and lips and subtle peach-brown tones on the eyes complete the picture.
Vintage accessories. Hairpieces weren’t the only accessories that made an impact on Bridgerton! Other gorgeous details also defined Daphne’s look, as well as those of other characters. For example, a cathedral-length veil, long satin or lace gloves, vintage-style jewellery, and pretty wraps. Experiment with a few vintage pieces you love and don’t be shy to stack them – in the world of Bridgerton, more is definitely better!
