This gorgeously dreamy bridal shoot comes to us from Hampshire hair and makeup artist, Melissa Clare. In conceptualising the shoot, Melissa was inspired by the Daisy hair accessory collection by the Wilde Bride, which for her conjured up feelings of youthfulness, playfulness and sunshine. The look was boho luxe in a rustic barn setting, with chunky macramé dream catchers and fairy lights to play on the contrast between shadow and light. Captured by Lucie Watson on a beautiful late winter day, the golden winter sunlight added an ethereal glow to the images, which perfectly reflected Melissa’s choice of shimmery makeup and flawless skin. The hairstyles were a mix of braids and half-up styles, ideal for a rustic boho bride. The shoot was featured in Your London Wedding Magazine last year.
Melissa explained the inspiration behind the makeup look:
“The shoot had a dreamy, ethereal feel and I brought that through in the makeup by using a glowing, flawless complexion with a glimmer of golden glitter eyeshadow and a soft golden smoke to line the eyes. To get the look, I used a light reflecting foundation from Charlotte Tilbury, and a super glowy liquid blusher by Daniel Sandler, which was applied to the model’s cheeks and lips. The eyes were adorned with Dior Sequins eyeshadow."
For the bridal hair, Melissa chose plaited styles, since she knew they would pair beautifully with the floral hair accessories. She created three different looks: a chunky knotted plait, a Dutch halo braid, and a lightly curled half-up plaited style. With the current trend for hair jewellery in the form of hair vines, decorative bands, hairpins and embellished veils, these hairstyles are the perfect choice for the modern bohemian bride.
Of one of the Wilde Bride pieces included in the shoot, designer Tally Lewis says: “The Daisy Tiara is a really feminine piece that is easy to wear, and features hand enamelled flowers set with Swarovski crystal, which really catches the light. The minute we positioned it into place, our gorgeous model went from sweet and ethereal to Queen Bee in seconds. It is remarkable what jewellery can do for a bride!”
In her six years in the wedding industry, Eversley-based Melissa Clare Makeup & Hair has styled hundreds of brides and created a variety of contemporary looks. She has a particular affinity for bohemian styling, including textured plaits, rustic updos, glamorous waves and pretty half-up looks, as well as natural but radiant makeup.
