2020 was a year we never could have predicted, and the Coronavirus pandemic’s effect on weddings was (and continues to be) far reaching. We’ve seen countless postponements, along with the emergence of elopements, minimonies, and microweddings. But, while we’re still in the eye of the storm, we’re also looking ahead with hope to a time when we can gather again safely. And as we do, here are some of the bridal hair and makeup trends for 2021 that will be making those celebrations extra glam and beautiful.
No-makeup Makeup
After a year of masks and lockdowns, makeup has taken a back seat for many women, with an increased focus on skincare. This has translated to the catwalks, and now to bridal beauty too. 2021 brides are opting for fresh, effortless-looking makeup that enhances their natural glow. Natural-looking brows, soft pink and peachy lips, and more subtle contouring are also part of the look.
The Eyes Have It
Another knock-on effect of mask life is that there has been a renewed focus on eyes as the focal point of a makeup look. ’90s-style liner and smoked out eyes are on the rise, albeit in a more subtle form for bridal style. Long, fluttery lashes are also a must, with many brides opting for a lash lift ahead of their big day.
Stained Lips
For brides who love to wear a statement lip, stains are where it’s at. The new wave of lip stains are beautifully pigmented and long-lasting, without drying out lips (or smearing on masks!). Matte reds and beautiful berry shades are a great choice for 2021 brides.
Textured Hairstyles
In line with smaller weddings and simpler celebrations, brides are taking a more relaxed approach to their wedding hair. Beautifully textured low buns and ponytails are especially on-trend, and will make any bride look effortlessly stylish.
Sleek and Chic
Another nod to the ’90s, sleek hairstyles are also gaining in popularity. Hair is swept away from the face into neat buns and ponytails, or tucked behind the ears if worn long and loose.
Hollywood Waves
Of course, glamour is not dead! Hollywood waves are also huge at the moment, and have a beautifully elegant vintage vibe that still manages to be timeless and classic.
